How can I help?

Égalité Absolue was born out of the Cheltenham Jumbulance Group, which in turn had its’ beginnings in the Cheltenham Across Group. The Cheltenham Across group had been formed in the early 1990’s in order to provide a yearly pilgrimage / holiday to Lourdes for the disabled, infirm and terminally ill. These events were organised through a charity known as Across  and the main emphasis was taking people (VIPs) who through their disability or illness could only travel by coach with assistance ie nurses, doctor and helpers.

In 2000 Across as a charity ceased trading and the Cheltenham Associate group decided to carry on operating using both Across Jumbulances (Scotland) and a newly formed charity NJTT to fulfill the need for disabled travel in the local area. The reformed group named itself the Cheltenham Jumbulance Group. With the new charity NJTT the opportunity arose for not only the yearly pilgrimage but also holidays on both a day out and overnight stay basis.

Not wishing to be aligned to any particular group and also to protect the funds under its’ control the group decided to register as a charity in its own right and named itself Égalité Absolue. The registration was completed with the Charity Commission in early 2004 being allocated the number 1101995. The objectives of the charity being summed up as providing holidays and respite breaks to Lourdes in France and other places as the trustees see fit. In April 2004 a working committee was appointed, through interview, to assist the trustees in fundraising and the operation / organising of trips.
